Welcome to Mapspam, the world’s finest palindrome-titled map website
This website began as an online map collection, but it is also the best and easiest place to host some new online tools for making simple maps:
The latest version of my Great Circles tool is now live, with the ability to plot multiple direct geodetic distances between multiple cities and a central point, with custom range rings. Rotate, pan, and zoom the view to get just the right orthographic effect.
See other simple mapping tools here to make blank slide templates, print outline maps, or visualize great circle routes.
Please see the blog posts for discussion of some of the maps in the collection, which tends to focus on cartography for communication and education, innovative comparative geography, and the nexus of strategy and cartography. There is a particular focus on nineteenth century exploration, American geography textbooks, and commercial cartography from World War II.
