Welcome to Mapspam, the world’s finest palindrome-titled map website
This website began as an online map collection, but it is also the best and easiest place to host some new online tools for making simple maps:
The latest addition is a tool for generating simple outline maps on an azimuthal equidistant projection. The defaults are set to create easy, free backgrounds for slide presentations (16×9) or page maps (A4 portrait or landscape).
Click here for the online tool for creating simple orthographic maps, including orthographic maps with unusual colors, rotations, and oblique angles.
Please see the blog posts for discussion of some of the maps in the collection, which tends to focus on cartography for communication and education, innovative comparative geography, and the nexus of strategy and cartography. There is a particular focus on nineteenth century exploration, American geography textbooks, and commercial cartography from World War II.
